About Vinyl Equity
We’re building the next generation of capital-markets infrastructure, starting with a modern, digital-native transfer agent designed for today’s public companies.
Vinyl Equity is transforming one of the most legacy-heavy and operationally critical parts of the capital markets by delivering the first API-driven, real-time infrastructure for public companies. Our platform replaces slow, manual processes with secure, automated workflows that help issuers operate faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.
We’re backed by leading investors including Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Infinity Ventures, and others who have funded many of the world’s most impactful financial-technology companies. Our team draws from deep experience at NYSE, Equiniti, Computershare, and AngelList, giving us a unique understanding of the industry’s pain points — and how to solve them.
We have a massive market, a well-defined customer, and strong momentum. With demand accelerating and new product lines on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to join.
About the Role
We're looking for an Operations Senior Associate to join our Operations team and help us deliver world-class transfer agent services to our public-company issuers. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day execution of the core operational workflows that define a modern transfer agent: shareholder recordkeeping, securities issuance and cancellation, dividend processing, corporate actions, proxy and annual meeting support, and reconciliations.
You'll bring direct, hands-on transfer agent experience to a team that is reimagining the category. You'll have the chance to take work that has historically been manual, fragmented, and error-prone and rebuild it on top of modern, API-driven infrastructure alongside our Engineering team. The right person is energized by both the craft of operational precision and the opportunity to make the work itself dramatically better through tooling, automation and rapidly increasing adoption of AI capabilities.
This role is open at the Associate or Senior Associate level depending on years of experience. Either way, you'll have real ownership of meaningful workflows from day one, and a clear runway to grow as the Operations team scales.
This is a Chicago-based role at our West Loop headquarters, and candidates must be able to work in-office at least three days per week.
Role Requirements
- 2-5 years of direct experience at a transfer agent, equity services provider, in-house equity/stock administration team, financial advisor/brokerage operations, or equivalent experience (e.g., Computershare, Equiniti/EQ, Broadridge, Continental, AST, Securitize, or comparable).
- Hands-on working knowledge of core transfer agent operations: recordkeeping, transfers, DRS/DWAC, dividend processing, corporate actions, proxy/AGM, and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with the regulatory environment governing transfer agents (SEC, DTCC, FINRA, state UPL) and the documentation/audit standards expected of public-company service providers.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of zero-defect operational work.
- Strong written communication skills; comfort interacting with shareholders, broker-dealers, and client contacts professionally and clearly.
- Comfort working in spreadsheets, internal tooling, and modern SaaS platforms; willingness to learn and shape new tools as we build them.
- High agency and ownership to feel accountable for every aspect of delivery from strategy to tactical implementation and communication follow-through
- Take pride in recognizing and executing what needs done before it’s asked
- Must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Chicago and able to be in-office 3+ days per week.
- Bachelor's degree.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with TA software platforms such as Equiniti's EQuate / SCRIP, Computershare's CSi, Broadridge's Shareholder Recordkeeping system, or Transtar.
- Experience supporting an issuer conversion or migration from one transfer agent to another.
- Exposure to API-driven or modern SaaS tooling in financial services.
- Familiarity with Claude, Intercom, Notion, Slack.
- Familiarity with SQL, Excel modeling, or light scripting (Python) for operational analysis.
You could be a great fit if:
- You have a passion for improving the way you and your team work, every single day.
- You take real pride in operational precision and believe the details matter — because in our business, they do.
- You've worked inside the transfer agent industry and have a clear sense of which parts are broken and want to help fix them.
- You're energized by the chance to do the work and to help redesign it through better tooling and automation.
- You're motivated by fast growth and excited by the pace, autonomy, and opportunity that comes with an early-stage startup.
- You're energized by the idea of helping introduce real innovation into an industry that has largely stood still for nearly three decades.
- You bring rigor to documentation, process, and follow-through and expect the same from your team.
You may not be a great fit if:
- You prefer environments where the work is highly built on existing routines.
- You'd rather stay in pure execution and avoid contributing to how the work evolves.
- You're uncomfortable working closely with Engineers on the systems that drive your day-to-day workflows.
- You prefer slow-changing environments or rigid process definitions.
- You're not energized by client-impacting work where mistakes have real consequences.
