Smart Contract Developer
About Vinyl Equity
We're building the next generation of capital-markets infrastructure, starting with a modern, digital-native transfer agent designed for today's public companies.
Vinyl Equity is transforming one of the most legacy-heavy and operationally critical parts of the capital markets by delivering the first API-driven, real-time infrastructure for public companies. Our platform replaces slow, manual processes with secure, automated workflows that help issuers operate faster, more efficiently, and with greater confidence.
We're backed by leading investors including Index Ventures, Spark Capital, Infinity Ventures, and others who have funded many of the world's most impactful financial-technology companies. Our team draws from deep experience at NYSE, Equiniti, Computershare, and AngelList, giving us a unique understanding of the industry's pain points — and how to solve them.
About the Role
We're looking for a Smart Contract Developer to help shape Vinyl Equity's blockchain initiatives from the ground up. You'll design and deploy smart contracts that emulate transfer-agency workflows on Ethereum — with flexibility to work across Solana or Canton depending on your strengths — and lay the technical foundation for how we bring on-chain settlement to capital markets.
This is a growth hire with a clear ramp: you'll align on requirements and security standards early, then move quickly from initial development to testnet and mainnet deployment — all within your first 90 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy smart contracts for transfer-agency workflows on Ethereum, with flexibility to adapt to Solana or Canton based on your expertise.
- Collaborate closely with the tech lead, project manager, and product manager to gather requirements and plan milestones.
- Deliver a threat model and testing plan early in the engagement, adhering to industry-standard security practices.
- Deploy contracts to testnet and mainnet, ensuring all security standards are met before launch.
Role Requirements
- Proficiency in Solidity and hands-on experience with Ethereum-based smart contract development.
- Experience building decentralized applications and DeFi protocols, with a strong understanding of blockchain architecture.
- Ability to gather requirements, plan milestones, and manage scope to avoid project drift.
- Familiarity with smart contract security practices — threat modeling, systematic testing, and audit readiness.
- Openness to learning new technologies and adapting to evolving project requirements.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with Solana and/or Canton smart contract development.
- Prior work with security tooling, formal audits, or post-mortem analysis of on-chain exploits.
- Experience deploying contracts in regulated or compliance-sensitive environments.
You could be a great fit if:
- You treat smart contract security as a first-class concern, not a post-hoc checklist — you've read post-mortems of on-chain exploits and internalized them.
- You're comfortable shipping and iterating in environments where mistakes are expensive and immutable.
- You write tests alongside the contract and push back when a deadline threatens your coverage.
- You scope aggressively on greenfield work — you'd rather ship a smaller contract that's audited than a bigger one that isn't.
- You co-create plans with the PM rather than waiting for tickets, and you communicate blockers early.
- You're energized by the idea of bringing real blockchain infrastructure to one of the most legacy-heavy corners of financial markets.
Why join us?
- Build foundational blockchain infrastructure at the intersection of TradFi and DeFi — transfer-agency workflows on-chain is largely unexplored territory.
- Work directly with the engineering lead and product team with real ownership over technical direction.
- Competitive compensation and equity.
- Flexible work arrangements with an on-site preferred team in Mangaluru.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Equity-based compensation
- Comprehensive health benefits
- Flexible work arrangements (on-site preferred, remote acceptable)
- Opportunities for professional development and growth
